WorldatWork’s Spotlight on Sales Compensation is the world’s largest sales compensation event designed to infuse learning, networking, thought leadership and next practices for sales compensation and operations professionals.

What’s new in 2020?

This year we’re including more operations and analytics content to reflect the evolving needs of the profession:

  • Comprehensive learning tracks in sales compensation, operations, analytics.
  • Industry spotlight sessions to foster market-specific networking and glean best practices
  • More emphasis on skill-building and practical solutions
  • Focus on global and multi-national company practices
  • Variety of session formats, including peer-based learning
  • More opportunities/environments to network.

Who attends?

This event will attract over 300 sales compensation, sales operations and compensation professionals, at all levels, who have sales compensation accountability.

How many tracks and sessions will there be?

There will be four learning tracks and approximately 38 sessions. Participants will be able to follow one track for an in-depth experience in an interest area or choose sessions from a variety of tracks for a well-rounded conference experience.

  • Industry Spotlight

How long are the sessions?

Session times will vary according to the following:

  • 30-minute: Power Half Hour (Video is required with ALL Power Half Hour session submissions.)
    • These sessions have a higher production and entertainment value and include zero or very few slides/visual aids. These quick talks work well for sharing a personal story, experience or perspective that will translate into a moving experience for the attendee, compelling the audience to ask a big question of themselves, challenging conventional thought through a powerful narrative, etc.These half-hour sessions require big personalities with stage appeal, those who are dynamic enough to command an audience in the hundreds and deliver a powerful talk on a topic that is relevant to the audience. As with all sessions, no selling or lead generation activities will be permitted.
  • 60-minute: presentation, panel, debate, table talk, etc.
    • Awareness raising and thought-provoking sessions that cover best practices in Total Rewards design, research, communications and more. Sessions that feature speaker-led presentations followed by time for questions and answers. These programs cover emerging trends in the profession including global and future-of-work topics.
  • 90-minute: pre-conference virtual workshops, structured networking and problem solving
    • Pre-conference virtual workshops are intended to immerse attendees in a subject area, providing the chance to master the topic and interact with the instructor and fellow attendees in very meaningful ways. These are most often in a skill-building or educational format.
    • Roundtable small group discussions are intended to provide an opportunity for professionals to engage in discussions and meet others with the same interests, challenges and solutions.

What is WorldatWork looking for in a proposal?

WorldatWork places a high value on practitioner success stories. Sessions that include internal sales compensation professional perspective are highly sought after and provide many benefits to attendees who enjoy learning from their peers. Benefits to the speaker include helping peers and recognition as a thought leader, at their company and in the profession.

We also encourage consultants to co-present with their clients as it is a great way to recognize the success and value of their partnership.

Successful proposals will come from speakers who:

  • Reflect a deep understanding of the factors affecting sales compensation, sales operations and sales analytics
  • Engage attendees in highly interactive conversations
  • Leverage their professional and personal experiences to educate and interact with attendees
  • Understand and relate to the challenges that sales compensation and operations professionals face every day
  • Share insights into how today’s changing landscape will affect the future of the profession
  • Reflect diversity in professional background, perspective, company representation and demographics.

How does WorldatWork score proposals?

Due to a limited schedule, we cannot accept all proposals.

Ideal sessions will cover as many of these aspects as possible:

  • Future-focused and thought provoking
  • Emphasize learning level up front
  • Emphasize solutions to improve industry challenges related to global delivery, integration of employed and non-employed workers, and the changing nature of work due to automation
  • Showcase successful integrations with sales compensation and key business areas: sales leadership, finance and HR
  • Have a strong link to outcomes (effectiveness): personal, professional, individual, team and business
  • Leave attendees with how-to/application that can be implemented.

Please note: Successful proposals are based on a relevant topic, concept or idea, and not on products, services or proprietary information. We insist that you do not market or promote any services or lead-generation activities during your session. To best support the majority of our members’ needs, WorldatWork seeks a balance of presentations featuring practitioners’ perspectives and experiences.


When will I hear if WorldatWork accepted or declined my proposal?

Acceptance and decline emails will be sent by Apr. 13, 2020.


If WorldatWork accepts my proposal, what are my speaker benefits?

Speaker benefits include visibility and recognition as a thought leader. You will receive a complimentary event registration so you can attend all sessions and meals and network with peers during event.

In addition, if you’re a practitioner, academic or nonprofit organization representative, WorldatWork will cover the costs of up to a two-night stay at a host hotel. (Consultants and service providers are not eligible for lodging reimbursement.) No other expenses will be reimbursed.
