Bettina De Ruyck is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick Business School. She was also a visiting Ph.D. student at the University of Georgia with a scholarship granted by the Belgian American Educational Foundation. Her research lies broadly within the strategic leadership and corporate governance domain, which is focused on how top executives shape their strategic decisions that affect company performance, and the systems in place to ensure that executives make decisions in the best interest of the company.
She has established two complementary streams of research in this domain. The first stream of research is about executive compensation and its link with companies’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts. The second research stream is about how the cognition of top executives affects their strategic decision making company performance.
