
Karen Whaley brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in human resources, leading compensation, benefits, and HRIS programs. Currently, Karen is the Director of Total Rewards at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, an independent, ever-evolving philanthropy that supports basic biomedical scientists and science educators with the potential for transformative impact.
Karen began her HR career as a generalist at McKinsey & Company before specializing in Total Rewards. She went on to hold leadership roles at organizations such as BAE Systems, Abt Associates, Argon ST, Network Solutions, Lawson Software, and Scitor Corporation.
A member of the WorldatWork faculty since 2018, she is a WorldatWork Certified Compensation Professional (CCP®) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP®) and holds a BBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Marymount University.
