The Large Role of L&D in Organizational Success

More than one-third (35%) of learning and development (L&D) leaders say their organizations are using virtual reality (VR) or simulation as part of training designed to reskill and upskill their workforce. More than 70% said their companies plan to experiment with VR or simulation for soft skills training by 2022.

About 70% of executives say they value digital learning and development more as a result of COVID-19, and 67% think that learning and development can help minimize the effects of shocks and stresses of future events.

Close to 90% of organizations are implementing new learning technology platforms within three months, with 50% saying they have been able to deploy new learning technology in one to three months, and 38% reporting they were able to do so in less than one month.

2020 research from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) finds that more than 50% of all learning hours were delivered with technology-based methods in 2019, the highest number ever recorded for ATD’s 2020 State of the Industry report. Close to 20% of all learning hours were delivered via virtual classrooms.
