Figure 5 shows that in states with transparency laws, the median of the posted salary range increased significantly (Colorado, 17%; New York, 21%; and California, 15%), while in states with no pay transparency laws, the change in the median of the salary range was slightly negative (-6%, however not statistically significant as the midrange variability is very high).

For example, where the applicable minimum wage is $7.25 and the employer is paying a direct cash wage of $2.13:

;$7.25 – $2.13 = $5.12 (this is the tip credit);
;$10.88 – $5.12 = $5.76 (this is the overtime rate for this tipped employee);
;All hours worked must be paid at $7.25 per hour + any overtime hours paid at an additional $5.76 per hour.;
This assumes the employee earned enough tips to equal at least $5.12 per hour.

When survey respondents were asked how they would pay for a costly and unplanned medical bill:

;28% would rely on credit cards;
;12% would take a hardship withdrawal from their retirement account, with millennials (20%) and Gen Z (16%) more likely to do so than Gen X (6%) or Baby Boomers (3%);
Other key findings from Equitable’s survey include:
;37% of Gen Z respondents use platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube for benefits information — more than any other generation.
