The experts interviewed for this article offered the following options to reward top performers when raises are on hold: ;Variable pay programs such as spot bonuses; ;Increased flexibility and remote work options; ;Additional paid time off, more mental health days or impromptu free days off; ;Opportunities for sabbaticals; ;Professional development opportunities — for instance, training on artificial intelligence skills or attending work-related conferences; ;Stretch assignments, project opportunities and mentoring; ;Perks such as sporting event tickets; ;Access to financial planning services and coaching; ;Recognition programs; Depending on your organization’s size and resources, Dwyer said some of these options will be more feasible than others, so don’t underestimate the impact of even small gestures.
