CEO Pay and the Workforce: How Employee Matters Affect Performance-Related Pay in the UK’s 100 Largest Companies
We have grouped the following performance measures under the heading financial metrics to contrast with our analysis of the employee metrics: Earnings per share;Total shareholder return;Earnings or profitability;Net asset value or property-related metrics;Return on capital employed;Cash flow-related metrics;Revenue- or sales-related metrics.; Using this definition, financial metrics are universally used: 100% of the FTSE 100 companies that have analyzable data on performance-related pay have some form of financial metric in their performance-related pay plan (92 companies).

Exposing Pay: Policy Implications and Research Challenges
For example, per the 2023 European Directive , EU enterprises employing over 100 workers will soon be required to provide job applicants with position-specific pay range information, submit to government authorities periodic audits of gender/ethnic/racial pay gaps by job or pay level, make such reports accessible to employee representatives and — in certain situations — even to individual employees, and take steps to address gender pay gaps exceeding 5 percent.
