Workspan Daily Author Guidelines and Submission Instructions
What is Workspan Daily?

Workspan Daily is a free publication that provides news and insights on important topics for the rewards and HR professions.

Who is the audience?

Workspan Daily reaches an engaged audience of global compensation and rewards practitioners and consultants working in a wide range of industries. Readers include both members and nonmembers of WorldatWork. A weekly email showcasing the latest Workspan Daily articles reaches more than 40,000 readers.

What makes a Workspan Daily article great?

Great Daily articles do one or more of the following:

  • Make readers aware of new developments in the total rewards and HR fields. (Examples may include new regulations, new trends, new technologies, or new ways of helping readers perform their jobs more effectively).
  • Go beyond simply telling readers about something new; our articles concisely help readers see ways to understand and start addressing new issues and trends. Because Daily articles are relatively short, they cannot provide detailed how-to information; however, it is possible to provide concise insights that help readers move forward.
  • Clearly convey data via graphs, charts and other visual elements. (Final production of graphics is handled by WorldatWork staff and freelancers.)

Submission Instructions

Article submission is an iterative and collaborative process. To begin, send us a concise summary of your idea , along with a brief outline showing the structure of the article you propose. Your outline could serve as your “Key Takeaways” for the piece.

Here is an example of a Key Takeaways list from this article

  • Have policy amendments ready in 2023. All public companies should adopt written compliant clawback policies within 60 days of the effective dates of their respective exchanges.
  • Widely broadened definition of restatements subject to clawbacks. The broader definition of “restatement” leads WTW to expect an increase in overall enforcement of clawbacks, which illuminates the importance for boards to ensure proper documentation/minutes going forward.
  • Board discretion has been removed. Ousted with the old rules is the once-allowed board discretion to balance and consider all of the factors to decide whether clawback enforcement was in the best interest of the company or the shareholders.
  • Three exceptions to the rule. Three exceptions to the board discretion rule relate to cost of recovery, violation of home country laws or tax-qualified retirement plan terms.
  • Act now. WTW recommends immediate action to adopt a clawback policy that complies with the new rules and an immediate health check on current governance processes in advance of potential enforcement of a clawback policy.
