Betsy Larson
HR and Total Rewards Leader
SPHR, SHRM-CP, CCP®

Betsy Larson is a proven Human Resources and Total Rewards leader with over 25 years of compensation and total rewards industry experience in higher education (both private and public universities), Fortune 500 manufacturing, Fortune 100 healthcare, and Fortune 100 financial services.  Her leadership roles have included HR leadership, total rewards, executive compensation, broad-based compensation, performance management and training responsibilities. 

Prior to joining The Human Resource Consortium, Betsy most recently served as Interim VP (CHRO) of Talent, Culture, and Inclusion for Indiana University Foundation where she led the development of a 3 year strategy for the function.  Previously, she served as Head of Compensation for Indiana University where she designed and implemented an innovative approach to compensation, creating a job framework focused on development of skills and competencies to better retain and attract top talent.  Her work was recognized by the President of the University with a Bicentennial Medal.  Prior to that, serving on the senior leadership team and as Vice President, Compensation for MassMutual Financial Group, she led the strategic design and implementation of a creative approach to Performance Management resulting in meaningful coaching and development for employees, redesign of short-term incentive plans to better align goal achievement with company performance and strategy, strengthened gender pay equity practices, became a recognized Thought Leader by the CEO, and served as a member of the Diversity, Inclusion, Equity Leadership Committee to lead culture change across the enterprise.  In addition, she led Executive Compensation including presentations to the Board of Directors’ Compensation Committee.  Preceding her work at MassMutual, Betsy served in senior compensation roles for Cigna and Lexmark International.  

Betsy earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and her Masters of Public Administration degree with honors from Indiana University.  Betsy has also been an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University in the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs where she has developed and taught compensation curriculum. 

Additionally, Betsy has held leadership positions on various professional boards including SHRM Foundation as the Board Chair, SHRM-CT and SHRM-KY State Council leadership roles, SHRM Chapter President, and President of several WorldatWork Total Rewards chapters.  She has been a frequent presenter to WorldatWork national and local groups, state and regional SHRM conferences, and CUPA (College and Universities Professional Association) National Conference.  Betsy also is a published author in WorldatWork’s Workspan, SHRM’s HRMagazine, and CUPA Magazine.

Dr Scott Cawood
Chief Executive Officer

Scott Cawood brings more than two decades of leadership experience at the intersection of organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and workplace transformation. As CEO of WorldatWork since 2015, Scott has led the organization through a period of strategic growth and innovation, championing the mission to make work, and workplaces, better for all.

Prior to joining WorldatWork, Scott served as Global Leader for Organizational Effectiveness at W.L. Gore & Associates, where he led enterprise-wide efforts to align culture with business strategy and drive associate engagement across a 10,000-person workforce. His earlier roles include President of Synygy, a global compensation and sales software company, and senior leadership positions at Revlon and the Great Place to Work Institute, where he contributed to the development of Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work list.

A dynamic speaker and bestselling author, Scott’s most recent book, The New Work Exchange: Embracing the Future by Putting Employees First, was published in 2023 and quickly became an Amazon bestseller. He joined the WorldatWork faculty in 2023 and teaches with a passion for helping organizations unlock the full potential of their people.

Scott holds an EdD in Organization and Work-Based Learning from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School and Graduate School of Education), an MS in Learning Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University, and a BA in Organizational Communication from Michigan State University. He holds multiple WorldatWork certifications, including Certified Compensation Professional (CCP®), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP®), Certified Sales Compensation Professional (CSCP®) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP®).

Bob Cartwright

Bob Cartwright, SPHR / SHRM-SCP, is founder, president, and chief executive officer of Intelligent Compensation, LLC, a compensation, performance management, and business advisory consulting firm located in the greater Austin, Texas area. Since 1996, Mr. Cartwright has managed assignments for a wide variety of clients including those in high technology, manufacturing, services, information technology, health care, retail, construction / facility management, telecommunications, legal, energy, publishing, non-profits, public entities, municipalities, financial services, oil and gas, and defense / aerospace. He has 30+ years of diversified experience in compensation and human resource management which includes the development of total compensation strategies, wage and salary plans, executive compensation strategies and studies, customized surveys, performance-based sales, balanced scorecards, incentive and team-based compensation plans, and performance management systems. In addition, he has provided human resource and business management, strategic planning, and employment relations advisory services for an array of companies in Texas. Previously, he served in management at Tracor, Inc. in Austin, Texas for 14 years, where he had corporate-wide responsibility for the company’s global compensation programs and performance management systems.

Mr. Cartwright also served as a preferred provider – compensation expert - for the Credit Union Executive Society located in Madison, Wisconsin. Mr. Cartwright has been an active community leader and has served on various boards, committees, and task forces, including the Texas Supreme Court’s Jury System Reform Task Force and Jury Compensation Subcommittee, Texas State Technical College’s Performance Management Review Task Force, and the Texas State Comptroller’s Task Force on Welfare Reform – Welfare to Work. He was also involved with an MOU signing with the Texas Association of Business, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and Wyndham ISD on a 2nd Chance Hire Program for the State of Texas. Mr. Cartwright graduated from St. Edward’s University with a B.A. degree. His post-graduate work was focused on business management.


Connie Haney
Global Rewards Leader

Connie Haney is a seasoned global Rewards leader who has been a member of WorldatWork since 1984.  She is a past member of the Compensation Advisory Board, is a current faculty member and regularly volunteers as a subject matter expert, speaker and curriculum reviewer.

Connie has established and implemented strategic rewards functions in a broad range of companies. Working with board, C-Suite and business leaders to align rewards strategies and practices with corporate goals and business strategies, she has designed and implemented broad based and executive compensation and benefits programs for high performing global organizations. Recently her focus has been on helping small, high growth companies establish scalable rewards programs and system.

Most recently she was Director, Total Rewards for Acumatica an ERP solutions technology firm in Bellevue, WA.  Prior to Acumatica, Connie served as Director, People Operations for Teknova, Inc., building and implementing people programs and systems for a newly public biotech manufacturing company. Other roles she has held include Vice President, Total Rewards for CoorsTek, Inc. a large global industrial ceramics manufacturing organization where she led the transformation of the global rewards strategy and closed a significant gap to market ensuring competitive base pay in all countries. Additionally, she has held positions including Rewards Consultant with Willis Towers Watson, Managing Director, Global Compensation & Benefits for Lam Research Corporation in Fremont, CA and Compensation & Benefits leadership positions with Mentor Graphics Corporation, GMAC-ResCap, Cargill, Inc., Ceridian Corporation, and Foodmaker, Inc. parent company of Jack In The Box restaurants.

Merry Lee Lison
HR Leader

Merry Lee has extensive HR leadership experience in the insurance and professional services industries.  She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s management department.  She holds a BBA from UW-Whitewater and an MBA from Marquette University. 

Merry Lee has volunteered in numerous leadership roles for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), including the Board of Directors for the SHRM Foundation.  She was the chair of the HR/Development committee for the Board of Directors of the Einstein Project, a STEM education-focused nonprofit and has served in an advisory capacity for UW-Whitewater and UW-Parkside’s Customer Experience Program. She currently volunteers for Mit Liebe German Shepherd Dog Rescue and is in leadership role to coordinate Pastor/Parrish Relations at her church. 

While she lived in Milwaukee, WI for most of her adult life, Merry Lee currently lives in Green Bay.  And yes, she is a season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers.

Jennifer Loftus
Founding Partner and National Director of Astron Solutions

Jennifer C. Loftus is a Founding Partner of and National Director for Astron Solutions.  Her primary areas of expertise are the development, design, and implementation of base pay compensation systems, primarily as they impact non-profit and small to moderate sized organizations.  Jennifer also focuses on the design, administration, & analysis of customized cash compensation, benefits, and employee surveys.


Jennifer has 30 years of compensation and Human Resources generalist experience.  Prior to Astron, Jennifer was an Associate Consultant with the Metro New York Rewards consulting practice of the Hay Group (Korn Ferry), a worldwide leader in compensation consulting services.  Jennifer also garnered experience at organizations including Parsons Brinckerhoff (WSP USA), Eagle Electric Manufacturing Company, Pace University, and Harcourt General.  

Jennifer is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and WorldatWork.  She is also a member of New York City SHRM (formerly HR/NY) and the New York Compensation Association.  Jennifer is a Past President of New York City SHRM, an honorary Board member of Central New York SHRM (Syracuse, NY), and the 2022 recipient of the New York City SHRM President’s Award for Outstanding Service and the 2012 Breiger Award.  Jennifer has served as a subject matter expert to the SHRM Learning System and currently facilitates a number of programs as a SHRM instructor.  Jennifer is an alumna of SHRM’s Total Rewards Special Expertise Panel and SHRM’s Workplace Flexibility Advisory Committee, and has been a volunteer article reviewer for WorldatWork & SHRM.  She also served on the WorldatWork Affiliate Advisory Council, as Chair and regional representative.  

Jennifer is a sought-after speaker on topics regarding total rewards, employee retention strategies, and labor market trends. Jennifer presents at national and local Human Resource conferences in addition to various regional and local HR groups throughout the United States. Jennifer also has appeared on national and local television and radio programs and been quoted in multiple print and web media outlets.

Jennifer has an MBA in Human Resource Management with highest honors from Pace University and a BS in Accounting summa cum laude from Rutgers University.  The Pace University chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon awarded Jennifer the chapter’s first annual Alumni Achievement Award.  She also served on Pace University’s Spirit of Pace Awards Dinner Committee.

Jennifer has been an Adjunct Professor in Human Resources at Pace University, an Adjunct Associate Professor in Human Resources at Long Island University, an Adjunct Instructor at Nassau Community College, and a Human Resources subject matter expert / instructional designer / Adjunct Faculty with LIM College.

Jennifer received the 2014 Gotham Comedy Foundation’s Lifetime Ambassador of Laughter Award.

Vice President of Total Rewards for EBI

DW Mann is the Vice President of Total Rewards for EBI, a global high technology conglomerate focused in aerospace & defense, pet food science and biotechnology, and is President of the EBI Foundation.

Before joining EBI, DW was an Executive Compensation Consultant with Aon, and previously held progressive leadership roles in total rewards at several major public companies including ConocoPhillips, Pacific Drilling, MRC Global and Simply Good Foods. He has a proven track record of enhancing compensation strategies to attract, retain and motivate key talent, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives in dynamic and highly competitive market conditions across the energy, transportation, life sciences, health tech, and tech disruptor spaces.

He authors WorldatWork member materials, and he was president of the Rocky Mountain Total Rewards Association, and programs chair of Houston Compensation & Benefits, both WorldatWork affiliates.

Dan Purushotham
Adjunct Faculty

Dan Purushotham is a professor at Central Connecticut State University’s School of Business and brings to the classroom decades of experience in human resources, compensation, and performance management. Previously, he was Vice President of Corporate Compensation and Performance Management at The Hartford Financial Services Group and held senior roles in other financial services organizations.

Dan is the co-founder and former co-president of the Colonial Total Rewards Association (CTRA) and a past president of the Human Resources Association of Central Connecticut (HRACC), a SHRM chapter. Joining the WorldatWork faculty in 1990, he is a frequent national and international speaker, leading workshops and contributing thought leadership on HR-related topics, including as co-author of Building Pay Structures, a WorldatWork publication.

He has served on numerous nonprofit and academic boards, including the SHRM Foundation, Charter Oak College Foundation, American Red Cross Blood Services, and the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business. He is a recipient of WorldatWork’s Lifetime Achievement Award and the University of Hartford’s Anchor Award and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP®) and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP®). He holds an MBA from the University of Hartford, master’s degrees in psychology and industrial psychology, and a PhD from the University of Connecticut.

Jan van Zyll de Jong
Director of Total Rewards at Aviso

Jan is a results-oriented Human Resources leader with over 25 years of public/private sector experience across multiple sectors including technology, financial services, healthcare and pharmaceutical. At Aviso, Jan is the Director of Total Rewards, where he is responsible for driving the Organization’s Total Rewards strategy in areas including base pay, job architecture, sales compensation design, recognition and pay equity/transparency. Prior to joining Aviso, Jan was the Vice President of Total Rewards for Mundipharma International Inc, a multinational research-based pharmaceutical company. In this role, Jan led the transformation of the organization to a global Total Rewards and HRIS strategy.

He has served as a member of the WorldatWork Local Network Affiliate Council since 2015 and is a member of the Greater Toronto Area Rewards Association (GTARA). Jan is the former President of the Ottawa Regional Rewards Associate (ORRA), In 2010, ORRA was WorldatWork’s first recipient of the Local Association of the Year. 

Jan has an MBA from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Recreation Management (Hons) from Acadia University, where he was the recipient of an Acadia University Medal for Recreation Management.  He currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.


Amy Morgan
Operations and Learner Support Professional with WorldatWork

Amy Morgan is a long‑tenured WorldatWork operations and learner‑support professional with nearly twenty years of experience strengthening certification processes, quality assurance, and member and learner services. She is known for her clarity‑driven approach to complex systems, her commitment to data integrity, and her collaborative work across teams to improve the learner experience. Amy brings a deep belief in the power of education to change lives, shaped by her own lifelong curiosity and dedication to helping others grow. As a member of the WorldatWork Foundation Board, she is committed to expanding access, supporting emerging Total Rewards professionals, and ensuring the Foundation’s programs deliver meaningful, measurable impact.

Luke Rhoades
Senior Specialist of Exhibit and Sponsorship Logistics for WorldatWork

Luke Rhoades is Senior Specialist of Exhibit and Sponsorship Logistics on the WorldatWork Events Team, where he supports the planning and execution of large-scale events and collaborates with sponsors, exhibitors, and internal teams. He has also held roles within the CEO’s Office and Marketing, giving him a broad, cross-functional perspective on organizational strategy, communication, and execution.

Mike Oganyan
Manager of Faculty Success and Course Delivery at WorldatWork

Mike Oganyan, CCP®, is an accomplished academic operations leader with over a decade of experience at WorldatWork, The Total Rewards Association. As Manager of Faculty Success and Course Delivery, Mike oversees the implementation and optimization of the Learning Management System (Canvas), ensuring seamless course delivery and exceptional learning experiences for the WorldatWork community. 

He brings deep expertise in virtual learning environments, faculty training, and strategic course planning—designing and executing annual schedules while driving operational efficiency.  Mike has led numerous cross-functional initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance organizational outcomes. 

Career Highlights include: 

  • Revamping the CCP/GRP Program to modernize curriculum and delivery 
  • Building and leading a team of virtual producers to support faculty and learners 
  • Researching and implementing Zoom as a core platform for virtual learning 
  • Playing a key role in the successful launch of the LMS system 

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University, a Professional Certification in Film/TV Producing from UCLA, and the prestigious CCP Certification from WorldatWork. Outside of work, Mike enjoys family time with his spouse and toddler, ultra-running, and creating content as an aspiring podcaster.
