Such audit and reporting requirement, already in place in a number of European countries, are mandated by the 2023 EU Directive on Pay Transparency, Although the Trump administration issued a stay against the implementation of this order in 2017 in the United States (just weeks before it was to go into effect), individual states (e.g., Illinois) are adopting such requirements, and the Biden administration reinstated audit and reporting requirements for federal contractors as of 2022.
