The Cost-Benefit Analysis Process
Generally, the phases of conducting
cost-benefit analysis are as follows:
;Identify your pain point, intended audience and end goal.;
;Determine the
direct, indirect, intangible and opportunity costs associated with the benefit.;
;Pinpoint the direct, indirect, intangible and competitive positives or gains associated with the benefit.;
;Assign a dollar value to each of the costs and gains to calculate a cost-benefit ratio.;
;Incorporate other
internal data such as employee demographics or locations, or external data such as benchmarking and market comparisons, to add context to your findings.;
;Use those findings to determine and communicate next steps.;
You
may incorporate data pulled from:
;Internal benefit utilization reports;;
;Employee pulse surveys;;
;Health reports;;
;Attraction, retention and engagement metrics; and/or,;
;External benchmarking comparisons.;
An analysis can be completed in Excel, or through a variety of analytics
