Derek lives in Utah with his wife, Becky, and their five kids. He leads Compensation at his alma mater, Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor of Finance and an MBA. After starting a career in wealth planning and trading the full spectrum of securities for Fidelity Investments, he pivoted to Human Resources at BYU. In his 13 years in HR, he enjoys most advancing the HR function through using new technology to enhance HR’s efficiency and impact. 

He has the CCP, GRP, and CBP certifications from WorldatWork and serves on the Intermountain Compensation & Benefits Association board.
