Employees often think of PTO as taking a week or two off to go to the beach, Thomas Conway said, but that doesn’t encourage time-off requests for Gen Z workers who may not be able to afford a week-long getaway but want to visit a friend and go to a concert, or baby boomers who would enjoy taking just a few days off to spend time with their grandchildren who live an hour away.
